This course is designed to help familiarize you with the course management system and provide you with the opportunity to try out several of the tools, such as assignment submissions. The tutorial content are links to the Canvas Guides, which can be accessed in their entirety through the Help link on the left.

This class, just as most CF courses, will be designed to be accessed completely from the modules tab, on the left side of the page. Please find that tab and click it to get started.

Due to changes in browser programming, do not use Microsoft Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge. Chrome is recommended, although you should not have significant issues when using Firefox. If you do have a problem with Canvas and are using Firefox, try switching to Chrome, and your issue might resolve without your needing to call the Distance Learning Help Desk (extension 1317) or the CF Technical Help Desk (extension 1378).

Some browsers may occasionally make modifications to privacy settings to protect users from possible unsecured content. Unsecured content is identified with the prefix http:// in the URL and can create mixed content in your Canvas Page. Secured content is identified with the https:// prefix in the URL. If you are not seeing content in Canvas it is possible that your browser has blocked that content from displaying. There are directions below for how to access the content in Chrome or Firefox.

Chrome Security

Google Chrome verifies that the website content you view is transmitted securely. If you visit a page in your Canvas course that is linked to insecure content, Chrome will display a shield icon in the browser address bar.

You can choose to override the security restriction and display the content anyway by clicking the shield icon and then clicking the Load unsafe script button.

Firefox Security

Firefox verifies that the website content you view is transmitted securely. If you visit a page in your Canvas course that is linked to insecure content, Firefox will display a shield icon in the browser address bar [1].

You can choose to override the security restriction and display the content anyway by clicking the shield icon, clicking the Keep Blocking drop-down menu [2], and selecting the Disable Protection on This Page option [3].
