Using your values sorts, answer the following questions in the space provided for each:
Are your top ten personal values and your top ten organizational values the same? If not, what are the major differences? What problems, if any, do these differences create for you as a leader?
My personal values are different to my organizational thus the organizational values focus to a group of people rather them my personal views and beliefs.
Are there some values on your personal values list that conflict with each other? For example, are there conflicts because you value economic security and freedom? Loyalty and truth? How can you address and resolve these value conflicts?
Yes, for instance, LOVE and CUSTOMER FOCUS are conflicting each other. I will do what is right for your health and not what you want to hear or expect. That for me, is putting love first. I find myself in conflict of what the facility or organization expects from me versus what is right. I will always disagree every time someone refers to my patients as clients.
Are there some values on your organization values list that conflict with each other? For example, are there conflicts because the organization tries to focus on quality and quantity? On the short term and the long term? How can you address and resolve these value conflicts?
It is a very fine line when it comes to do what is best for the patient and the facility. Money is always the final straw in healthcare. As nurses, we need to be assertive to provide best care possible.
Are there some values very important to you that you are not “living” in your day-to-day life? If so, what might you do to bring your life into concert with your most deeply held values?
No, I have my values well define.
