Final Course Reflection

Health Care Policies and Economics has been one of the most fundamental courses to my nursing practice. It has taught many beneficial policies and procedures for the nursing profession in general and has been an eye-opener to the economic aspect of nursing as well. Working on the group debate project was beneficial because it allowed me to learn about a well-known topic in the nursing profession with well-rounded information from my group.
The advocacy letter was a great introduction on learning how to not only advocating for patients in the workplace, but also that advocating for the nursing profession is important as well. The topics discussed in the course are topics that are brought up by nurses in everyday conversation, such as mandated nurse-patient ratios, and adequate staffing. These are all topics that nurses must face daily while in the workplace and topics that need to be addressed for change. Having the opportunity to learn and discuss these topics has shed a new light on the difficulties nurses face in the workplace.
Overall, I feel that this was an excellent course that taught many valuable lessons for nursing. I feel that it was a great opportunity to increase knowledge on health care policies and economics and gave great opportunities for advocacy.
