My focused abdominal assessment video enabled me to expand my assessment skills by leaps and bounds. The information that can be obtained from a thorough abdominal assessment can reveal a lot about a patient. I have used these techniques from investigation, auscultation, palpitation, and percussion with a new found sense of mastery and finesse. By taking the time and performing these series of assessments, I have helped to discover some life threatening situations with patients including gas gangrene, and this is why this assessment stands out to me more than the others. Being competent and confident in one's assessment skills makes the utmost difference in how helping a patient can be practiced.
