According to the Myers-Briggs Personality test I am a "ESFJ," which is a combination of "extraversion + sensing + feeling + judging." Individuals with these personality traits tend to be:

actively sociable

warm

harmonizer

caring

enthusiastic

empathetic

people- oriented

practical

responsible

concrete

orderly

conscientious

cooperative

appreciative

&

loyal

(The Myers & Briggs Foundation, 2017).

On a personal level I like to think of myself as a driven, non-judgmental, "real," easy-going individual. These character traits support this self assessment of myself. On a clinical level many of these traits are important in providing competent, patient centered care. For example, it is important to be conscientious of patient's preferences, values, and beliefs when providing care. It is also important to be able to cooperate with co-workers even when differing opinions may be present. Empathy is a vital skill in the healthcare setting, as patients do not care how much you know until they know how much you care.
